Bio
Hi I'm Sam.
My approach is cross-disciplinary and curious. I like robots, CAD, big thinking and anything stuck between a few layers of pastry. Whether that's a chip sandwich, Cornish pasty or a generous slice of Victoria Sponge cake!
My professional background includes retail and medical administration experience as well as several years in kitchens and hospitality.
I love to get hands-on but I also want to know what's going on under the hood and why it's happening.
This drive to know why has pushed me to always want to expand my horizons whether reading or travelling. I think this is now especially important, when the majority of architectural drawing involves abstracted computational calculations. Books allow deep investigation across cultures, histories and perspectives; it both challenges what my knowledge is embodied in; as well as providing new ways to think about challenges and architecture in general.

Food is also a really big part of who I am. I love being in the kitchen and I'm always experimenting. However, I think a lot of skills and attitude you learn in the kitchen, also provide the ability for deep syntactic thinking which can be applied transgressively across fields.
These are some photos of dishes and pastries I have cooked at home or places I have worked.
My desire to know why has also not stopped at food. edX allows you to participate in online courses often extra-curricular at official universities. In this case physics, chemistry and fermentation courses about food!
